The meeting was held in The parish room of St. James's Episcopal Church, West Hartford, CT.
Attendance:

Corporate Actions:
It was moved by Dave Thomas and seconded by Hope Lennartz and unanimously approved that :
1. the resignation of Rev. R. Hooper III as Treasurer be accepted with thanks for services rendered.
2. Rev. Terry Wysong be confirmed as Treasurer.
3. Rev. Terry Wysong be elected a Member of the Board.
4. Rev. R. Hooper III continue as a Member of the Board.
Reports:
The Treasurer's Report, presented by Rev. Terry Wysong, was accepted as submitted showing January and February receipts of $62,767.77 and a current balance of $81,303.13. It was requested that the board identify specifically what revenue and expense accounts should be maintained.
The Executive Director's report included the important recommendation that "The Friends" encourage Pere Sadoni Leon, the Director of St. Vincent's Centre for Handicapped Children, to hire one of graduating nurses (relying for selection on the recommendation of the dean of the nursing school, Hilda Alcindor,) to perform essential health care and health education functions at the center. The "Friends" would give assurances of financial support for this project for at least the initial two years. Hope further reported on the latest news of post-earthquake conditions at St. Vincent's and what was presently known of the children's whereabouts and care. Hope recounted details of our growing relationship with Dr. Sue Nelson of Tennessee and her regular medical missions to St. Vincent's. Her report also included a recap of the sources of recent financial support including news that the final $10,000. grant from the Diocese of Connecticut had just been received and represented an addition to the balance reported by the treasurer.
New Business:
Mrs. Dee Gilbert, a long term, active supporter of "The Friend's" presented a check in the amount of $5,000. from her parish, St. Anthony and St. Patrick in Hartford, with comments on the ecumenical nature of the donation and expressions of her continuing concern for the welfare of the children at St. Vincent's. A surprised but obviously pleased board accepted the gift with great gratitude for the generosity of Mrs. Gilbert and her parish.
The board was similarly surprised, pleased and impressed to receive from Ms Emily Gilbert a check in the amount of $1,187.63 representing the proceeds of her fund raising activities at J.P. Vincent Elementary School in Bloomfield, CT where she teaches.
Hope Lennartz will send a note of appreciation and thanks to the two donors.
Directors were asked to consider our need for qualified persons to augment our executive and board with particular emphasis on a Development Officer (read pro bono fund raiser) and directors who might be expected to take an active and/or financially supportive role and plan to submit any names for consideration at our next meeting.
David Thomas noted the desirability of reviewing and modifying the original corporate by laws. It was agreed that this should be any early undertaking of the board or a committee thereof.
Next Meeting:
The next meeting of the board will be held on Sunday, April 25, 2010 in the Parish Room of St. James's Church immediately following regularly scheduled services and meetings or about 11:50 am.

Bill Harris, Secretary
