Celebration on the Completion of the Brace Shop!

The Brace shop at St. Vincent's was dedicated in the fall of 2006 by the Rt. Rev. Jean Jachre Duracin, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Haiti. The brace shop crafts custom braces and prostheses for handicapped children at the school as well as handicapped individuals in the larger community. Thanks to three major gifts following the Haiti Connection Meeing in Miami in May 2005, the old building was demolished, removed, and a completely new, well-designed building was constructed. Major gifts were received from the Friends of St. Vincent's in West Hartford, CT, Holy Innocent's Episcopal Church in At.anta, GA and Hester Bliven of August, GA. Physicians for Peace, an international organizastion headquartered in Norfolk, Va, has committed to furnishing the brace shop with new equipment, and assisting in the training and education of the staff.
